Volunteering with us

Whatever time you actually have.

There is no minimum commitment and no rota you have to hold to. Several of our most useful volunteers help three or four times a year.

Deliveries and driving

An hour or two, occasionally

Groceries, furniture, a bed that needs moving across the city. The most-asked-for and least-filled role we have.
Taking calls

A few evenings a month

Speaking with mothers who get in touch, and staying with the conversation until it's clear what would actually help. Training and a partner for your first few.
Gatherings

One weekend a month

Cooking, setting up, minding children, clearing away. Bring your own children. Most people do.
Bookkeeping and admin

Two or three hours a month

The ledger, the receipts, the quarterly summary. Nobody ever volunteers for this, and it is one of the most useful things you could do for us.
Languages

As and when

If you speak Arabic, Somali, Urdu, Tigrinya, Dari or anything else, being on call to sit in on a conversation changes everything for the mother on the other end.
A professional skill

Once, or ongoing

Accounting, legal advice, a trade, a haircut, photography, web work. Tell us what you do and we will almost certainly know someone who needs it.
